Jubei faces the possessed Shiro as he challenges Jubei to a last duel. Mikage appears, still injured, and stops Shiro so Jubei and her father can escape. Shiro runs off and Mikage follows. Sai screams for Jubei and demands to know what is going on. She tells him she is Yagyu Jubei and apologizes. She promises she'll come back for dinner, and Sai sees his daughter transform into Yagyu Jubei right before his eyes. Yagyu Jubei runs off after summoning her sword from Koinosuke, and Koinosuke realizes the battle isn't over yet. The Ruffians end up in the middle of the fight between Mikage and Shiro. Yagyu Jubei shows up just in time to save Mikage. Sai follows next, and asks if they have seen Yagyu Jubei. After swearing to always be there for her, he cant believe he never knew about her secret. The Ruffians try to console him, telling him that Jubei specifically asked to keep it from him so that he wouldn't have to worry. He feels he has failed her again. He punches Koinosuke and runs after Yagyu Jubei. Mikage appears again and pins him against a tree and demands that Jubei run them both through. Shiro breaks free, stabs Mikage, and confronts Yagyu Jubei again. The Ruffians find Hajime and he tells them to take him to his brother. Sai comes across Mikage lying in the bushes. Despite his mistrust of doctors, he wont let Mikage die. He tells the doctor that he had better save her life because he loves her. The doctor is inspired and promises to save her. It is apparent that harnessing Yagyu Jubei's power is taking a severe toll on Jubei's body. She is weakening and can barely stand. Sai shows up and confronts Yagyu Jubei. He tells Jubei to come back to him. He says that Jubei is ONLY a nickname for his daughter Jiyu. Yagyu Jubei says that she has to get rid of the Ryujoji curse once and for all. For that purpose, "Jiyu's soul shall rest eternally with me" In other words, Nanohana Jiyu will never come back. |
